47-Year-Old Woman Punched, Robbed While Walking Home, Cops Say

Police are searching for a mugger who allegedly attacked and robbed a 47-year-old woman walking home from a bodega on July 4.

The suspect trailed his victim down Avenue S after she left a store on Coney Island Avenue around 10:30pm, according to the NYPD. When the woman reached East 12th Street, the robber punched her in the back of the head and wrestled away her purse, authorities say.

The purse contained an iPhone 6S, credit cards and cash. The woman received a minor head injury and refused medical attention, according to police.

Authorities describe the suspect as a Hispanic man, in he late teens or early 20s, about five feetm five inches tall, with a light complexion, black hair and wearing a a gray hooded sweatshirt (which he removed as he followed the victim), a white tank top and blue jeans. The NYPD released surveillance photos of the suspect.
