Acting Out!

Acting Out! offers one week workshops in theater subjects from musical theater to film and TV. Specific age ranges are stated for each workshop.

Amerikick

For children between the ages of 3-12
Registration is open for summer camp. Camps are organized by week and theme. In addition to martial arts, campers will also enjoy arts and crafts.

AYSO Soccer Camp

For children entering grades K-12
AYSO has four sessions in the month of August where kids will play soccer throughout the day (and in all kinds of weather).

BAX Brooklyn Arts Exchange

No talent is needed to start with the BAX summer program. Enthusiastic and curious kids will be given opportunities for tumbling, theater, and dance.

Berkeley Carroll

Four different programs are held at Berkeley Carroll,including Curious Jane (see below). Among other things, campers will learn Spanish, arts, and toy building.

Brooklyn Botanical Garden

For ages 2 through 8th graders
Offers half-day camps for little gardeners to get their hands dirty. Sign up for separate morning and afternoon sessions. Staff will oversee lunch. Registration is open.

Brooklyn Boulders

For ages 5-12
Campers will explore activities like top roping, slacklining, and bouldering. For breaks, there will be a few arts and crafts.

Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program
Home base for morning sign-in, lunch, and afternoon sign-out is at the Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway
Applications for BCAP opened on February 1. BCAP allows 7- to 12-year-olds explore Brooklyn’s cultural attractions, including the Prospect Park Zoo and the Central Library. Full- and partial-scholarships are available. Email for more information.

Brooklyn Design Lab

These studios run morning and afternoon sessions and are ideal for focusing on a specific fine arts talent. Artist work with professional grade material to create masterpieces out of clay or wood. They learn the art of bookmaking and printmaking.

At Brooklyn Music Factory campers spend the day jamming in fully equipped band studios — and then hop over to Brooklyn Boulders for rock-climbing.

Brooklyn Robot Foundry

Registration is open for robot-building scientists. In addition to the regular summer camp, Brooklyn Robot Foundry also has a June camp for students whose school ends before the Department of Education’s calendar.

Brooklyn School of Rock

Amplify your summer at school of rock. Aspiring rock stars have opportunities to write and record original music as well as rock out on the electric guitar.

Camp Friendship Summer Day Camp

This Park Slope based camp doesn’t have a lot of information up yet, other than that there are full- and partial-scholarships offered. Email for more information.

Camp Half-Blood

Ages 6-12
Camp Half-Blood is a different kind of performing arts camp. Demi-gods study archery, sword fighting, foraging, and other skills needed to master their weekly quests. Greek myth is the overriding theme.

Camp Olympia

Registration is open for this swimming and sports camp. Parents can get the deposit refunded if they change their mind before May 1. Bring a baseball glove and a water bottle.

Cirque D’Ete at Park Slope Day Camp

Want to run away and join the circus? Park Slope Day Camp teaches circum acrobatics, clown comedy, and set design in their Circus of the Summer program. The best part is, little performers don’t have to run away.

Juguemos a Cantar Summer Day Camp

For children between the ages of 3-10
Full immersion is the way to learn a language. Native English speakers and native Spanish speakers explore traditional camp activities like cooking and gardening. But all communication will be done in Spanish. Spanish-as-a-second-language learners will become fluent in the language while native speakers will develop a more nuanced appreciation for their native tongue. Half-day and half-week camps are also available.

Kings Bay Y has a special Hebrew dual language program. According to their website the program includes: Specialists from Israel teaching belly dancing, hip hop, dance, and theater. Culture and language are intertwined.

Park Slope Day Camp tries to make it easy for the parent and fun for the camper. Pick the most convenient of Park Slope Day Camp’s five locations. Flexible daily and weekly registration is available. The light-infused Textile Arts Center, just steps from the Gowanus Canal, is the perfect spot for young artists to learn their craft. These age-appropriate classes include printing, felting, and weaving.

The Tiny Scientist

An actual, trained scientists explores the wonders of our universe with elementary aged campers.
