Things For Kids To Do In Southern Brooklyn: Chanukah Extravaganza, Turtle Puppetry, Teen Tech Time
Looking for something to do with the whole family this week? There are a lot of great kid-friendly events coming up in Brooklyn, and we’ve selected some of our favorites. See the full details below!
Chess Club
When: Tuesday, December 1, 3-5pm
Where: Kings Highway Library, 2115 Ocean Avenue, Sheepshead Bay
What: Kids may prefer to text their friends but the chess club at Kings Highway Library allows children to use critical analysis skills in a game. Of course, when I read my little cousin’s texts, I have to do a lot of analysis, too.

Babies & Books
When: Friday, December 4, 11am-12pm
Where: Kings Bay Library, 3650 Nostrand Avenue, Sheepshead Bay
What: Children up to 18 months old will be encouraged in early literacy and language development by their caregivers in this program that provides great books, fun songs and rhymes, and socialization opportunities.

Kids Create
When: Friday, December 4, 4-5pm
Where: New Utrecht Library, 1743 86th Street, Bensonhurst
What: Kids and teens have the chance to explore their creative sides with some arts and crafts.
How Much: Free!
Turtle Puppetry Program
When: Saturday, December 5, 1-2pm
Where: Kings Bay Library, 3650 Nostrand Avenue, Sheepshead Bay
What: Kids ages 4-8 will learn some social skills about saying please and thank you from Little Turtle — expect a puppet show, a read-aloud, and relaxing exercises and music.

Chanukah Extravaganza
When: Sunday, December 6, 11am-2pm
Where: Kings Bay Y, 3495 Nostrand Avenue, Sheepshead Bay
What: One of the largest holiday events in Sheepshead Bay, this Chanukah party features a huge array of activities for the entire family, including a symbolic menorah lighting ceremony, arts, crafts, rides, performances, and more.
How Much: Free admission.
Teen Tech Time
When: Tuesday, December 1, 3-4pm
Where: Gravesend Library, 303 Avenue X
What: Playstation 2 and Wii is for ages 9-13.
How Much: Free!
