282 Royal Panthers Chess Team Excels At NYC Chess Championships
An enormous congratulations to our amazing PS/MS 282 Royal Panthers chess team, which competed at the Greater New York Scholastic Chess Championships yesterday, to some spectacular results — the team took home second place in the High School Under 1400 section! Which is so impressive — as 282 parent Rob Underwood puts it: “As in a 2nd grader beating 11th and 12th graders.”
Pictured above are (from left): Maya Doron-Repa (4th grade, 3.5 points), Kareem Hill (8th grade, 3,5 points), Takanori Underwood (5th grade, 3 points), Toshinori Underwood (2nd grade, 3 points), Steven Codling (coach). Not pictured, but also in this section, was Ryan Tucker (6th grade, 3 points).
