Back in November, at close to midnight a creep inside 8322 20 Avenue — an address police describe as a “grocery bodega named Tyolpen” but that we were unable to locate (it’s possible the shop number was inaccurate in the police report, as 8323 is a grocery) — attempted to pry open the cash register with a screwdriver when the store’s employee was in the back of the shop.

The employee, a 59-year-old male, confronted the screwdriver-wielding thief upon noticing him, at which point the creep struck the employee in the head and torso with his screwdriver before running away without any cash. The 59-year-old employee suffered head lacerations and torso bruising and was taken to Lutheran in fair condition, according to police.

The failed-robber is described a male, 40 to 45 years old, standing 5’8 to 5’10 and weighing 200 to 220lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweater, a dark colored jacket, and blue jeans. Police are not sure if he is white or hispanic.
