2013 Projects Revealed at Participatory Budgeting Expo Tonight
Expo

It’s almost time for our district to join together, and vote on this year’s participatory budgeting projects.

The 2013 expo, where delegates will present their ideas to the community, will take place tonight from 6:30pm – 8:30pm, at the Park Slope Branch Library (431 6th Avenue).

One of last year’s winning projects benefited the kid at PS 124, whose $150,000 bathroom renovation was completed in January.

“Participatory budgeting,” explains communications director, Alex Moore, “puts decision making power in the hands of ordinary New Yorkers.  The process, now in its second year, kicked-off last fall with neighborhood meetings that solicited thousands of ideas from community members in the eight participating City Council districts. Over the winter, district residents formed committees, charged with evaluating those ideas and deciding which to put on the ballot.”

Come out tonight and decide for yourself which projects deserve funding. Voting will take place from April 2 to April 7. For more information, visit Brad Lander and the Participatory Budgeting NYC websites.
