2-Year-Old Boy In Critical Condition After Fire In Marine Park Home
A 2-year-old boy was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital in critical condition after a fire broke out in a Marine Park home early Monday morning, WABC-TV reports.
The fire started around 1:15 a.m. at a house near Avenue P and East 38th Street, according to the FDNY. Two of the neighbors attempted to enter the home and rescue the boy, but were driven back by the heavy smoke, according to WABC-TV.
After a firefighter was able to get inside and retrieve the toddler, EMTs immediately tried to resuscitate the child before sending him to the hospital, the news channel reports.
The FDNY is investigating the cause of the fire.

Emergency workers also responded to two other fires in Sheepshead Bay over the weekend, one of which sent a firefighter to the hospital, according to the FDNY.
A fire at 1948 East 16th Street, between Avenue S and Avenue T, was called in at 1:33 am on Sunday morning, according to the FDNY. One firefighter was sent to Brooklyn Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, the fire department says.
Soon afterwards, another fire occurred one block away — at 1952 East 16th Street. Smoke and flames spewed from the second story of the home while firefighters worked to control the blaze, as shown by video provided by MIDWOOD – FLATBUSH NEWS BLOG founder Mike Wright. The FDNY reported that the two-story home was vacant and the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
