Flames and smoke ripped through a Flatbush apartment building last night, trapping people on the third floor, according to officials.

The fire sparked on the third floor at 554 East 26th Street between Flatbush Avenue and Farragut Road just before 9:15pm on Thursday, March 30, said FDNY. Firefighters had the blaze under control around 10pm.

Twelve people suffered minor injuries, but two more appeared to be in critical condition. They were rushed to Kings County Hospital, said fire officials. One person refused medical attention at the scene.

Witnesses said that people had jumped out of the building, and saw emergency workers giving people CPR, reports ABC7 News.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
