If you’ve got a kid who loves the Halloween season, we’re in the best place in Brooklyn to celebrate. Here are some of the events, starting this weekend, that you can enjoy in Park Slope and beyond:

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Brooklyn Lyceum
Saturdays and Sundays, October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27, 12pm & 1:30pm
Tickets: $15 for one, $50 for 4 (for ages 7-10)
Dress in costume for this  interactive reading of the classic, with projections, actors, sound effects, and a deliciously malevolent set will accompany the reading, plus with festive food and drink.

Make Your Own Halloween Tote

Harvest Festival
Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6
Saturday, October 19, 10:30am-1:30pm
Come in costume to enjoy a pumpkin patch, face painting, volleyball, mask making, storytelling, live music, a Halloween parade, and more.

Monster Mash
Brooklyn Children’s Museum
Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 4-8pm
Tickets: $8 for members, $12 for non-members
The museum closes down at 3pm to get ready for spooky crafts and games, a lesson in dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” a ghoulish scavenger hunt, a storytime for little monsters, all ending with a dance party.

Boo at the Zoo
Prospect Park Zoo
Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, 10am-5:30pm
Tickets: Must pay zoo admission, no additional cost for Halloween activites
Learn about bats, watch baboons smash pumpkins, take a trip through the spooky barn, join a costume parade, and enjoy face painting, craft making, and more.

Puppetry Arts’ Haunted Halloween Carnival
1st Street Recreation Center of PS 372
Saturday, October 26, 11am-4pm
Tickets: Free, but $2-4 for some activities
Spooky puppet and mask making crafts, face painting, carnival games, raffles and giveaways, a visit with the Star Wars characters, and more. The first 200 children will get a free trick-or-treat bag filled with goodies from local merchants and more.

Ghouls & Gourds
Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Saturday, October 26, 12-5:30pm
Tickets: $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, free for kids under 12 and BBG members
Colossal puppets, a Victorian toy parlor, the youngest Brooklyn metal band, children’s book creators, and more in a day packed with events and activities.

Haunted Carousel
Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, 12-5pm
Prospect Park Carousel
Tickets: $2 per ride
Expect a spooky spin on the historic carousel where creepy bats, scary cats, and spiders will watch you ride to the sounds of chilling Halloween music.

Halloween Haunted Walk & Houlihan Lokey Halloween Carnival
Prospect Park’s Nethermead and Lookout Hill
Saturday, October 26, 12-3pm
Tickets: Free!
Watch out for zombies, wolf men, headless horsemen, witches, and more (which could be scary for younger children, so use your discretion) as you walk to the carnival, where you’ll find games, pony rides, face painting, and treats.

Halloween Harvest
Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum
Saturday, October 26, 1-5pm
Tickets: $5 for adults, $3 for children under 10, free for members
NYC’s oldest house celebrates with crafts, food, games, colonial superstitions, and haunted history.

Creepy Crawly Halloween
Prospect Park’s Audubon Center
Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, 1-4pm
Tickets: Free!
They’ll have spiders, worms, and more creepy creatures on hand for kids to check out.

Scary Stories from the Past
Lefferts Historic House in Prospect Park

Tickets: $3 suggested donation
Master storyteller Tammy Hall will keep the tradition of scary stories alive with tales told in the little village of Flatbush 200 years ago.

Skeleton Cut-Outs

Tickets: $3 suggested donation
Make your own headbands using traditional Scharen-Knippen paper-cutting.

Halloween Playspace

Expect playing, singing, dancing, and enjoy a special goody bag of treats (no tricks, though, they promise).

BAMboo!

Stuff the sarcophagi full of candy at BAM’s 12th annual Halloween block party, where sphinxes, snakes, and Cleopatras gather for an afternoon of ancient Egypt themed games, candy giveaways, costume contests, and activities.

The 2013 Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade
Starting point: 14th Street and 7th Avenue

A Halloween tradition since 1986, expect volunteers handing out candy, giant puppets, and hundreds of children (and parents) in costume. This year’s theme, To Boo or Not to Boo, invites neighbors to come dressed up as favorite fictional characters.
