It’s time to dance at the Federation of Italian American Organizations (FIAO) Beacon Community Center again.

The free program, which is in its 14th year, is held in the auditorium of Seth Low IS 96 at 99 Avenue P on Wednesday nights starting October 10 and running through June.

The dance program is aimed at dancers of all ages. Dance instructor Carmine Santa Maria leads the instruction along with advanced students from previous classes. He has been teaching ballroom dancing for over fifty-seven years.

Partners are not necessary to learn basic Meringue, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha and Swing moves. Advanced students practice their Peabody, Rumba, Mambo, Waltz and Samba steps alongside the newcomers.

“You learn to dance by dancing and teaching each other,” says Santa Maria. “But I’ll always be there watching and correcting,” according to a release.

Adult walk-in registration starts late September at the Beacon Front Desk after 3 p.m. Pre-registration is advisable. Call Director Joe Rizzi at 718 232-2266 for more info.
