14th Street Donation Bin Goes Up In Flames (Again)

For the third time in less than a year, a clothing donation bin on 14th Street and 4th Avenue was deliberately set on fire. FDNY responded to a call around 10:30pm on Saturday, July 5, and quickly extinguished the flames.

We’ll be the first to admit that these for-profit bins are a blight on the neighborhood, but there are safer ways to deal with the Pepto-Bismol-colored monstrosities. It might seem futile, since the city just picks them up from one block and the owners drop a new one off on another, but

is a much better alternative to risking the lives of neighbors and their property

Have any other bins around the neighborhood met a fiery end? Do you think the Brooklyn bin infiltration is getting any better? Worse?
