So you want to enjoy Halloween like a kid, but you don’t want to be surrounded by them? As much as a reputation Park Slope has for being all about children, there are just as many Halloween events for adults in the area this year. Here’s your ultimate list of scary, ridiculous, and booze-filled things to do to celebrate:
Boo-ingo
When: Wednesday, October 29, 7:30-10pm
Where: Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club, 514 Union Street
What: Spooky prizes, a chance to scream bloody murder when you win, and come dressed up, cause there’s a costume contest.
How much: No cover.
Monsters On The Brain: A Natural History Of Horror
When: Thursday, October 30, 8pm
Where: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 3rd Avenue
What: Do the cultures of horror have roots in the evolution of our cognitive operating-system? In this talk Professor Stephen Asma, author of On Monsters, will use horror as an interdisciplinary bridge between humanities and scientific methodologies —a kind of case study for triangulating philosophy, psychology, and biology.

HalloMEME Party
When: Thursday, October 30, 8:30pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: It’s the sixth annual Internet-inspired costume spectacular, with drinks, a photobooth, and plenty of fun prizes.
How much: Free with RSVP!
Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade
When: Friday, October 31, 6:30pm
Where: Starts at 14th Street and 7th Avenue
What: Walk along with your creepy, crawly, and fantastically costumed neighbors to a party at the conclusion point at the Old Stone House.
How much: Free!
Rotten Apple Roots & Bluegrass Halloween
When: Friday, October 31, 8pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: The second annual event will be a non-stop show of the best roots and bluegrass the burgeoning Brooklyn folk revival scene has to offer. Murder ballads, banjos, and, naturally, candy.
How much: $12, tickets available in advance.
Zombie Prom
When: Friday, October 31, 8pm
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street
What: Stomp rotting feet and clap decrepit hands to the live tunes of The Hollows, Sylvana Joyce & the Moment, Corn Mo, and T.R.J.B. Best costumes are crowned King and Queen, plus, prom-style photos can be taken at their famous blood-splattered photo booth. Tricks, treats, and raffle prizes included. Proceeds support Personal Space Theatrics, a local non-profit theater company.
How much: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Postmark Halloween Party
When: Friday, October 31, 8-11pm
Where: Postmark Cafe, 326 6th Street
What: Enjoy stand-up comedy, a silent movie, games, a costume competition, pizza, and snacks.
How much: Free!
Annual Halloween Party At The Gate
When: Friday, October 31
Where: The Gate, 321 5th Avenue
What: Check out the annual lineup of special seasonal, pumpkin, and cellared ales, and watch the parade from the patio! Come in costume or buy one of those beers and get a raffle ticket — win a bar tab! — then stick around for raffles drawings at 10pm, 11pm, and midnight.

Halloween Bash
When: Friday, October 31
Where: Ginger’s Bar, 249 5th Avenue
What: The annual party includes lots of prizes and, if you get there early, they’ll have free, festive cupcakes.

HaloHalloween
When: Friday, October 31, 9pm
Where: Pork Slope, 247 5th Avenue
What: DJ Mike Nyce and host Jack Boogie lead a night filled with spooky drink concoctions and a costume contest where the winners go home with a pair of Nets tickets.
How much: No cover.
BOOgie Down: A Late Night Halloween Dance Party
When: Friday, October 31, 10:30pm-2am
Where: BAMcafe, Peter Jay Sharp Building, 30 Lafayette Avenue
What: Dance party hosted by singer- songwriter Everett Bradley (aka Papadelic), who performs with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, among other groups. DJ Reborn moves the crowd and BAMcafé Live’s DJ Idlemind will open and close the night. Costumes are encouraged!

A Drinking Game NYC Presents: Ghostbusters
When: Saturday, November 1, 8pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: A live, staged reading of the 1984 classic film, as performed by actors and drunk to by the audience — when a certain word or phrase comes up, everyone (including the actor, if the word is the character’s name) drinks!
