10 Neighborhood Halloween Parties For Adults

Halloween is, without a doubt, our favorite time of the year, and if you’re looking to get out with your fellow ghouls and goblins for a night (or two, or three) on the town, this neighborhood does not disappoint:

First Ever Applewood Halloween Costume Contest With Cocktails (Of Course)
When: Sunday, October 27, 6pm to 10pm
Where: 501 11th Street at 7th Avenue
What: Why wait until October 31 to break out the costumes? Applewood is hosting their first Halloween bash with seasonal cocktails, such as hot mulled cider and Due North rum punch. Expect a live DJ, costume contest (“liquid prizes” will go to the best costumes) and tasty snacks.
How much: $8 per plate, $8 per drink. No reservations required.

Trivia Armageddon Halloween Costume Contest
When: Tuesday, October 29, 8pm to 9:30pm
Where: The Black Horse Pub, 568 5th Avenue at 16th Street
What: Dust off your geek costumes (our sonic screwdriver is at the ready) and come out for a special edition of Trivia Armageddon. Look for trivia, a costume contest, drink specials and more.
How much: $2 buy in.

Halloween at Mezini
When: Wednesday, October 30 and Thursday, October 31
Where: 492 5th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Street
What: Looking for more of a restaurant vibe? 5th Avenue’s Mezini is offering “scary cocktails,” and prizes for the best costumes on both October 30th and 31st.
How much: Free!

Skylark Halloween WEEKEND Party
When: Thursday, October 31 – Saturday, November 2
Where: 477 5th Avenue at 11th Street
What: That’s right, neighbors, Skylark isn’t stopping at one night of Halloween fun. They’re not even stopping at two nights. Our friends on 5th Ave are hosting three nights of Halloween specials. Look for “f***ing awesome candy,” nightly costume contests with bar tab prizes, $4 screw drivers, $5 dark+stormies, $6 hot cider with whiskey or rum, and $10 20oz cold Cider bottles.

J’eatjet Halloween Party
When: Thursday, October 31, 9pm till…
Where: 685 5th Avenue, between 20th and 21st Street
What: Newcomer J’eatjet is tossing quite a bash. They’ll be costume prizes, a DJ from 10pm till 2am, beer bongs (!!!), and $20 unlimited punch.
How much: Free!

Halloween Party at Camelia
When: Thursday, October 31, 7pm to 12am
Where: 499 5th Avenue, between 12th and 13th Street
What: It’s an all night happy hour at Camelia. Look for $5 sangria, $5 margaritas a DJ from 9pm to midnight, and a costume contest. First place walks away with a $75 gift certificate and 2nd place takes home a $50 gift certificate. Make your reservations by calling 718-499-0002.

Freddy’s Halloween Extravaganza
When: Thursday, October 31, 8pm
Where: Freddy’s Bar and Backroom, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street
What: You know Freddy’s is going to be hopping on Halloween. In addition to a costume contest, prizes and ghoulish giveaways, bands begin playing at 8pm and don’t stop until the wee hours of the morning. Don’t miss Ken Beasley at 8pm, Gold at 9pm, Chris Buckridge and the Last Friend at 10pm, Ne’er Do Evers at 11pm, and Bastard in Love (Black Flag Cover Band) at 12am.

AMaryCan Psycho Halloween Party
When: Thursday, October 31, 8pm to 4am
Where: Mary’s Bar, 708 5th Avenue at 22nd Street
What: Make your way to Mary’s for classic horror movies projected on the wall, bats, blood, pumpkins,bubbles and candy. Costumes are encouraged and the best dressed wins free shots from midnight – 4am. The winner will be announced at midnight, so make sure you’re there before the clock strikes 12.

Day of the Dead Party at Greenwood Park
When: Friday, November 1, 9pm
Where: 555 7th Avenue, between 19th and 20th Street
What: Greenwood Park’s Day of the Dead Party is back this year with a costume contest (cash prizes awarded to the winners), DJs and dancing all night long, $3 Modelo, and $15 sangria pitchers.

The Monro Pub 2nd Annual Halloween Party
When: Saturday, November 2, 10pm till…
Where: 481 5th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Street
What: Party on Thursday the 31st and then head to The Monro on Saturday for more spirited fun. They’ll be a costume contest at 2am, “scary drinks,” and prizes.
