Three Star Diner on Avenue U Closed by Department of Health
SHEEPSHEAD BAY – A neighbor emailed worried about the sudden closure of the 3 Star Diner on Avenue U, just before the holidays.
While the old school diners have been disappearing across the boro at an alarming rate, this one was closed by the Department of State on September 9 because it racked up 58 violations, including a number of critical ones, in the latest inspection.
The establishment was cited for having mice, roaches, and flies, not storing hot food appropriately, and inadequate cleanliness of the establishment.
September inspection seems to corroborate some of the Yelp reviews from earlier in the summer, lamenting the state of affairs at a beloved institution, which until this year, only had the letter grade A ratings from the Department of Health.
When we called, the management said they were waiting for an inspection and hoped to be back open soon.
