Today marks the 11th anniversary of 9/11. There are a number of events around the city to commemorate the horrific events of that (equally blue-skyed) Tuesday.

Group remembrance not your thing? Patch’s listings also include a number of “memorials, statues and beans of light you can observe without the company of others.” Most locally, there’s the memorial outside the FDNY Squad 1 firehouse on Union Street between 6th and 7th, dedicated to the 12 squad members who died in the attacks.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Eagle reports that the NYPD is building a digital monument of their own today via social media. Every hour, they’ll be posting the name of another lost NYPD officer, each with a link to an individual Facebook memorial page.
