Meg Ryan’s “Fan Girl” To Film Near Church Avenue On Thursday
Another film shoot will be in the area on Thursday, September 18, and cars are already banned from parking on the blocks where they’ll be working.
The movie is called Fan Girl, and it’s mostly been shooting around Long Island, including in Westbury and Port Washington, but was also recently filming in a house (one that’s for sale) on Rugby between Glenwood and Avenue H.
The film, which stars Meg Ryan, Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka, and Kara Hayward from Moonrise Kingdom, is, according to The Westbury Times, “about a high school age girl (played by Shipka) navigating social networks and juggling priorities between her fandom for a pop music band and her love of filmmaking.” Doesn’t sound quite like the book Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, for those hopeful YA readers out there dreaming of a film version.
They’ll be filming on the following streets from 5am-8pm tomorrow:
- Albemarle Rd between CIA and Buckingham
- Westminster Rd from Church to halfway between Albemarle and Beverley
- South side of Church Ave from Westminster to halfway between CIA and Stratford
