Business partners Josh Ellis, Jake Trebach, and Matt Volner, the guys behind 5th Avenue bar Uncle Barry’s, are about to open a new space in Clinton Hill, and though it’s been in the works for a long time — with a couple of setbacks — it sounds like the new space will have been worth the wait.

They originally planned to expand to a space on Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights, but after being repeatedly denied a liquor license recommendation by Brooklyn Community Board 8, they decided to set up the new Moot Bar at 579 Myrtle Avenue. And from the sounds of it, if you’re looking for a place to hang out in that area that feels a bit familiar, this will be the spot.

“We’ll have a pretty similar setup to Barry’s,” says Josh, who’s pictured above on the left with Jake. “Sixteen draft lines, same-ish number of bottles, large and wide-ranging selection of booze. No real food but we will have Hot Dog Tuesdays, where you get a free hot dog with every drink you order! We’ll also have trivia on Wednesdays at 9pm.”
