Two Ex-Lafayette Gardens Drug Dealers Sentenced To Life In Prison
Six terms of life in prison — this was the sentence for both Damion “World” Hardy and Aaron “E-Bay” Granton, two former gang members and drug dealers from Lafayette Gardens.
Hardy and Granton, both 40, were convicted this past April 29 on charges of “murder in-aid of racketeering and related offenses.”
“Gang members and would-be gang members are on notice that we will never cease in our efforts to bring murderous criminals to justice and to make communities like Lafayette Gardens safe for its law abiding residents,” stated Acting United States Attorney Kelly T. Currie on the conviction and sentences.
According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, “from 1991 until August 2004, Hardy led a “criminal enterprise known as the ‘Cash Money Brothers’ (CMB) based in the Lafayette Gardens Houses” and Granton was “one of its top enforcers.” The group’s operations made Lafayette Gardens “a central and lucrative hub for the distribution of cocaine base.”
Granton’s enforcement of the group’s interest included “near-daily gun battles with rival organizations and numerous murders,” including of Michael Colon in 1998, and, in 1999, Darryl Baum, James Hamilton, Tyrone Baum, and Ivery “Peanut” Davis — a hit that also claimed the life of innocent bystander Johan Camitz. Granton is also said to have killed Troy Singleton in 2001 for a separate gang.
