Don’t miss out — Participatory Budgeting Vote Week ends Sunday, April 3rd!

Residents of the 39th (Brad Lander), 40th (Mathieu Eugene), 44th (David Greenfield), and 45th (Jumaane Williams) City Council districts are choosing among a wide variety of capital projects — physical improvements to schools, parks, libraries, public housing, and other public and community spaces — that have been proposed by their neighbors.

All residents, 16 years of age or older, with proof of residency in their Council district can vote. (In Councilmember Lander’s district, residents age 14 and up can vote.)

Click here for info on how and where to vote.

Residents of City Council districts participating in PB get to decide how to spend at least 1 million dollars of their local Council Member’s discretionary funds — this totals to over 35 million dollars citywide.

Here’s just one example of a project — sent to us by a reader — that is on the ballot in Councilmember Brad Lander’s district:

“There are MANY worthy projects (and you get to choose 5 “capital” and 3 “expense” projects!), but I wanted to make a pitch for the project I’ve been working on behalf of PS 130 and other diverse, multi-lingual schools in City Council District 39 (which includes much of school district 15 and some of district 20).
Our local schools need your vote for the Translation Equipment for Multi-Lingual Schools project! This will provide transmitters and head sets for PS 130, PS 131, PS 179, PS 230 & MS 839 so translators can provide simultaneous translation to make meetings and school events accessible for non-English speakers!
We encourage everyone in our community to get out and vote for this project. All residents of NYC Council District 39 (which includes much of school district 15 and some of 20) age 14+ are eligible to vote regardless of immigration status! All you need is an ID, a utility bill, or some other document stating your name and address.
