The Dome Playground, located on the northeast corner of Dahill Road and 38th Street, closed this week for a $2.75 million renovation project that is expected to last for approximately one year — during which time the space will remain shuttered to the public.

The reconstruction work, which is being funded by Councilman Brad Lander and Borough President Eric Adams, will feature the expansion of the existing play areas, including a new spray shower area, a seating plaza, an open lawn, and planting beds.

Community members have long waited for this renovation, which was first discussed by Lander several years ago and which Community Board 12 gave its stamp of approval to in 2013.

What do you think the renovated park will mean for the neighborhood?
