Thank You and Happy Thanksgiving!

A year ago, I did not think I’d be writing these greetings and Bklyner’s future was most uncertain. Thanks to you, our readers – who decided to support their local news source – we are still in business, and in September added political reporter Kadia Goba to our staff.

Your support has allowed us to raise awareness about local issues, be it politics, housing, parking or post office, and our reporting was cited in Council hearings to push for reforms just last week. We all here at Bklyner – Pam, Paul, Zainab, Kadia, Dina and I – are incredibly grateful to all of you for enabling us to serve you and Brooklyn communities, and helping make life in our neighborhoods better, one day at a time.

Being around another year meant that we were around to help raise $10,000 for CAMBA’s Beyond Hunger food pantry through the 500 meals for 500 families fundraiser we started 6 years ago. Beyond Hunger food pantry is an incredible institution in Flatbush that helps with so much more than just food, and we are most grateful for your support. Every $$ helps and 100% goes to the food pantry.
