Suspicious Package Shuts Down Part Of 5th Avenue

A suspicious package at a bus stop on 5th Avenue at Carroll Street caused a bit of chaos this afternoon, though it sounds like it’s getting cleared up now. According to Patch, cops on the scene are calling it a “hoax.”
The street was shut down to traffic for a while, causing some businesses to be evacuated:

Whole staff of Dizzy's on Fifth Ave in Park Slope standing outside because of this bomb scare. My first thought was "not another stabbing."

But for the most part, many neighbors seemed to take it all in stride:

Which led to a string of tweets on the subject from Sam Gimbel, but we like this one best:
Looks like I'll have to hit the Konditori on 7th to pretend to write my novel since there's a bomb scare on 5th ave #parkslopeproblems

We’ve reached out to the NYPD, and if we hear any more news, we will update.
