Robbery Pattern in South Brooklyn

The NYPD has released information on a pattern of robberies in the Sheepshead Bay and Flatlands neighborhoods last month.

A pair of robberies took place in the early hours of Thursday, July 20, police report. The first took place at 1:35am, in a 7-11 at 2247 Utica Ave, near Avenue O in Flatlands. The second robbery followed at 2:42am, at a BP gas station at 2317 Coney Island Ave, near Avenue T in Sheepshead Bay.

In both instances the suspect entered the locations, displayed a firearm, and demanded that the employee empty the register, according to police. The suspect fled the scenes with $1500 and $600, respectively.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 30s, last seen wearing a dark blue, long sleeve t-shirt with the number “72” on the front, blue jeans, and a black ski mask.

Surveillance footage shows a suspect matching the police description performing one of the robberies.
