Red Hook Parents Charged In Infant’s Death

On the evening of November 6, 2016, police responded to a call at 722 Henry Street in Red Hook where they found an unsupervised, unconscious ten-month-old girl in a bathtub.

EMS rushed Meilani Hernandez to Methodist Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, the NYPD report that they arrested and charged the girl’s parents on Thursday, April 13, in connection to her death.

The parents, 24-year-old Roxanne Hernandez and 21-year-old Daniel Hernandez, have been charged with reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17.

The couple also have a three-year-old son, according to the NY Daily News.
