Brooklyn Magazine just named Ocean Parkway one of The 10 Best Places to Read a Book Outside, ranked alongside tranquil spots like the Botanic Garden’s Cherry Esplanade and the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument in Fort Greene Park.

It’s nice to see a largely-problematic strip of road (accident-wise) get some good press–the pedestrian areas on Ocean Parkway definitely feature some great benches, chess tables, and characters. Like Brooklyn Magazine’s suggestion of the steps at the Central Branch of the BPL, though, it seems like traffic noise and the constant threat of cars going off the road Dukes of Hazzard style might throw a wrench into your literary plans.

So, has anyone actually managed to read a book on it? And if not Ocean Parkway, then where are some better places to conquer War and Peace around Kensington?
