Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this week? From a storytime to celebrate Mom, to a free screening of Paddington, to a chance for the whole family to bike and enjoy our library system, there are a lot of great kid-friendly events coming up in our area. See the full details below!

Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, May 6, 10am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids ages birth to 18 months and their guardians can enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes.
How much: Free, but you must pick up a ticket the morning of the program at the Children’s reference desk.

Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, May 6, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.

Toddler Time
When: Wednesday, May 6, 11:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Songs, fingerplays, action rhymes, stories, and more for kids ages 18-36 months to enjoy while meeting other neighborhood toddlers and their caregivers.
How much: Free, but tickets are required, and will be handed out at the desk starting at 11am.

Nature Exploration
When: Thursdays & Fridays, 12-4pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Families can enjoy a variety of activities, from games for bird nerds to Citizen Science projects to a chance to meet a resident snake.
How much: Free!

Story Craft
When: Thursday, May 7, 3:30pm
Where: Pacific Library, 25 4th Avenue
What: Kids up to age 5 are welcome to hear a story, then make a craft inspired by it.
How much: Free!

Storytime
When: Friday, May 8, 10am
Where: Postmark Cafe, 326 6th Avenue
What: A weekly storytime has returned to Postmark! Stop by every Friday for some free fun.
How much: Free, but there’s only space for 20 kids, so arrive early to ensure your spot.

Movies At The Library: Paddington
When: Friday, May 8, 3:30pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Based on the beloved book, the movie tells the tale of Paddington the bear, who finds himself in London in search of a home, and is adopted by the Brown family — who quickly learn how much trouble a small bear can cause.
How much: Free!

Nature Exploration
When: Saturdays & Sundays, 10am-1pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Much like on the weekdays, families can enjoy a variety of activities, including bird watching, nature-based projects, and more.
How much: Free!

Pop-Up Audubon
When: Saturdays & Sundays, 10am-1pm
Where: Eastwood, Prospect Park
What: This month, through hikes, birding tours, and more, families will get to know a thing or two about the wonderful warblers that visit the park at this time of year.
How much: Free!

Bike The Branches
When: Saturday, May 9, 10am-7pm
Where: Finish line is Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Set your own pace along routes that features Brooklyn history, breweries, live music, storytimes, and more between 10am-5pm, then end the day at the Finish Line Celebration from 5-7pm, where they’ll have food vendors, live music, awards, and activities for participants of all ages.
How much: Registration is $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and children under 17, $40 for a family of up to 2 adults and 3 children, and $150 for a team of up to 10 people.

Storytime With Kris Poluchowicz
When: Saturday, May 9, 11am
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue
What: Explore the borough through the alphabet with the author of Brooklyn ABC: A is for Aquarium, B is for Brooklyn Bridge, and C is for Coney Island Cyclone!
How much: Free!

Pop-Up Audubon II
When: Saturdays & Sundays, 11am-4pm
Where: Peninsula, Prospect Park
What: This month, you’ll get to monitor the development of plants that supply food and shelter for birds in Prospect Park through a range of activities.
How much: Free!

Fleece Fun
When: Saturday, May 9 & Sunday, May 10, 2-4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: See how wool was used on a Flatbush farm! Kids will be able to brush the wool with carding paddles, spin yarn using a drop spindle, and even make a felt ball to take home with them.
How much: $3 suggested donation.

Family Birdwatching
When: Sunday, May 10, 10am
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Looking for a fun way to spend some time outdoors with the family? Join park naturalists to learn about the 250-plus species of birds that call the area home.
How much: Free!

Mother’s Day Storytime
When: Sunday, May 10, 2pm
Where: Barnes & Noble, 267 7th Avenue
What: Celebrate Mom this Sunday by cozying up with some books! They’ll be reading a couple of stories fit for the theme: Mom School and How To Babysit A Grandma.
How much: Free!

Toddler Spring Fling
When: Monday, May 11, 10:30am
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Get ready to celebrate spring with dancing and other fun activities appropriate for children ages 18-36 months.

Storyplay

Stomp, Clap, And Sing With Elena Moon Park And Friends
When: Tuesday, May 12, 11am
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: For this special show, Elena Moon Park will team up Sonia De Los Santos (voice, guitar) and Colin Brooks (drums) to offer up a joyful mixture of tunes in English, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and more! Come ready to dance and sing in many languages and styles.
How much: Free!
