55-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Brownsville
BROWNSVILLE – Another pedestrian is dead after being struck by a driver while attempting to cross the middle of the street.
On Saturday, November 16 at around 6:45 p.m., a 55-year-old man was attempting to cross Rockaway Avenue near Somers Street from east to west. According to the NYPD, he was crossing it outside of the crosswalk. A 29-year-old driving a 2012 Nissan, who was traveling northbound on Rockaway Avenue, struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was found lying on the roadway with trauma to the body. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition. But on November 18, he died from his injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene and as of today, no arrests have been made. Cops say the investigation is ongoing and have not released the name of the victim.
