Out And About: Finding Seafood & More At The PS 154 Greenmarket
It’s a good walk from Kensington, but the Sunday PS 154 Greenmarket, at 11th Avenue, is definitely worth a detour. I went for the fish, of which American Seafood, from Suffolk County, has a good selection, including whole porgies at $4/pound, and oysters at a $1 each, just like happy hour in the local bar.
The fishmonger was offering free samples of raw scallops, dipped in soy sauce. As the young man said, “Sweet.”
Additionally, there’s a wide apple selection, organic and non, among them Macoun; pork belly, lamb steaks and more from Sawkill Farm, Red Hook, NY (that’s Mike Robertson pictured above); “French” heirloom tomatoes; plus corn, cider, and many vegetables: root, leafy and cruciferous.
The Windsor Terrace-PS 154 Greenmarket runs every Sunday from 9am to 3pm on 11th Avenue between Sherman Street and Windsor Place.
