If you were planning on leaving Brooklyn on Sunday – fuhgeddaboutit. The annual 26.2-mile race is back, and the best thing is to simply embrace it and the fact that you will be staying right here.

Verrazano bridge upper level will close at midnight on Sunday, and the lower level at 7am. Both expect to reopen around 3pm. Most streets in Brooklyn along the course will close between 7am and 8am. Full details here.

It is a great tradition to cheer on the runners, and Brooklyn comes out every year. There’s music, there’s happiness, and there’s much joy in running together with your neighbors.

  1. Someone who was planning to leave Brooklyn on Sunday should simply plan to leave it on Saturday, instead. And may God be with anyone in NYC who is sick and in need of emergency assistance on Sunday. Why can’t they just run this damned thing on a circular track?
