While walking her dog Stanley, neighbor Julee came across this shrub on Glenwood Road and wondered what it was. Thanks to Chris Kreussling, aka Flatbush Gardener, for identifying it as a Crape Myrtle, Lagerstroemia indica.
You’ll notice many cultivars of the Crape Myrtle in the neighborhood, especially now that they have just begun their long blooming cycle. They like a lot of sun, and they have bark that sheds year-round.
If you have one or have had one, any thoughts on them?
