One of the first lessons you learn in adulthood is to be careful with a fake ID. Yesterday, an off-duty corrections officer learned that the hard way, according to the NYPD.

Corrections officer Joyce Fields, 48, was arrested on May 5 at about 2 pm after causing a ruckus and then impersonating an officer at a deli on Myrtle Avenue and Clermont Avenue and is now facing charges of criminal impersonation of a police officer and criminal mischief, according to police.

Fields grew impatient with the cashier’s slow return of change following a purchase and proceeded to throw her merchandise on the floor and do damage to the register, say cops. When the victim threatened to call the police, the off-duty corrections officer produced a shield and claimed she was the police, according to authorities. However, the cops, along with Fields’ bluff, were called and she was arrested as a result, claims the actual NYPD.
