Memorial Day is this Monday, May 27. Whether you plan to make it a solemn day of remembrance or celebrate extra time with family at the beach, make sure you know what’s closed in the area.

Info on schools, government offices, parking, and sanitation via nyc.gov:

Government offices and courts are closed.
There is no mail delivery.
All NYC public schools are closed.
Alternate side parking is suspended. You don’t have to pay the parking meter.
No garbage or recycling pickup. If Monday is your garbage day, put out your garbage after 5pm Monday evening. If Monday is your recycling day, wait until next week to put out your recycling.

Subways and Buses

Those familiar changes to the G train are suspended this weekend. All trains and buses will be running on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, and the MTA is adding extra trains today to help you get out of town.

Libraries

All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library will be closed Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27.

Banks

Astoria Federal Savings (101 Church Ave at McDonald) will be closed.
  • Astoria Federal Savings (4302 18th Ave at E 2nd) will be closed.
  • However, TD Bank (210 Prospect Park Southwest between Park Circle and Greenwood Ave) will be open.
