Hit The Links With Aviator Sports This Summer
One of my strongest memories is of my grandfather taking me to a driving range in Southern California when I was maybe 8 or 9. He and my grandmother were avid golfers, my father was on his golf team in high school, and so, naturally, he was encouraging me to follow suit. It did NOT go well and that was my last visit to a driving range. I’ve stuck to mini golf ever since.
Brooklyn mini-golfers and 18-holers alike should know that Aviator Sports just took over the Brooklyn Golf Center for the 2018 season. We asked the folks atAviator a few questions about this exciting new offering, now called Aviator Golf Center.
Tell us about the new golf center. What do you offer and why is it unique?
The Aviator Golf Center is located right across the street from Aviator Sports Center. It has a driving range with 72 stalls, a putting green, a chipping area as well as an 18-hole mini golf course. The Riis Park Par 3 Golf Course was part of the acquisition as well. That is located in Riis Park right over the bridge in Queens. The golf center is one of the few driving ranges in Brooklyn.
Have you made any improvements or changes since taking it over?
There have been lots of updates to the buildings, remodeling the main office and fixing the exteriors. We’ve replaced the mats in the driving range and are in the process of replacing the balls. For the mini golf course, there will be all-new obstacles, including a loop de loop made out of an upcycled tire that Kevin, one of our Operations staff, made. Riis Park is getting aesthetic upgrades such as new flags and water at holes.
Looking to the future, what new features or services can people expect to see?
Much of what we’re looking to add centers on programming such as lessons for children and adults and leagues. It would be great to run some competitions as well. We plan on continuing to renovate the buildings so improving food service and the party area are on the list.
They also tell us that early birds and night owls will benefit at the driving range in the summer season. From 8am-11am and 7pm to 10pm, golfers will receive an extra 25 balls free of charge. Frequent golfers can also sign up for a loyalty card, purchase 10 buckets, and get the 11th bucket for free.
And as with all things Aviator, the golf center is available for parties! They’ve got several driving range and mini golf packages, all of which include the following:
- Activity
- Party area
- Pizza for children
- Beverages
- Regular cake or ice cream cake
- Dedicated party host to run your activity
- Balloons
- Table covers
- E-vites
- Paper goods and utensils
- A gift certificate for each child to come back and ice skate for FREE.
