Hillary Clinton And Bernie Sanders Debate Will Be In The Brooklyn Navy Yard
So that much-debated Democratic Presidential Debate between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders? It FINALLY has a location — and it’s right in our own backyard at the Brooklyn Navy Yard!
The big event will take place on Thursday, April 14 from 9-11pm inside the Duggal Greenhouse and will be co-hosted by CNN and NY1. That’s five days before the New York State primary election on Tuesday, April 19.
As such, the moderator will be CNN’s veteran presidential coverage anchor Wolf Blitzer. NY1 political anchor Errol Louis and CNN’s chief political correspondent Dana Bash will also be co-moderating/issuing questions.
The choice of the Brooklyn Navy Yard simultaneously is a surprise and makes perfect sense. From a security standpoint, it allows the Sanders and Clinton teams, as well as the NYPD and Secret Service, to have plenty of room to work while also being in a contained space separate from residential and commercial areas.
Both presidential candidates also enjoy wide support in Brooklyn and have borough ties, with Clinton’s campaign office being situated in Brooklyn Heights, and Sanders’ in Gowanus, plus Sanders’ home neighborhood being Midwood.
What do you think of the two Democratic presidential candidates coming to our neck of the urban jungle?
