In response to a series of tragic fires that have devastated homes and families throughout the NYC area over the past year, Mayor Bill de Blasio, the FDNY, and the Red Cross have teamed up to launch their #GetAlarmedNYC campaign with the goal of distributing and installing 1,000 free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms throughout the city.

This weekend you can pick up an alarm for yourself and learn more about fire safety thanks to the FDC and the FDNY’s Fire Safety Education team. On Saturday, December 12 from 1-4pm, they will be outside of Cortelyou Road Firehouse,1210 Cortelyou Road, teaching proper fire safety techniques and signing people up for free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
