Gelman Claims NYPD Abused Him, DEA Set Him Up
“Sometimes my mind isn’t right.”
Tell us something we don’t know, Maksim Gelman. That’s what Gelman told reporters yesterday during an interview with reporters at Bellevue Hospital, where he was undergoing evaluation.
Aside from his disturbing mental state, Gelman said he’s not in good physical shape, either. According to the Daily News, Gelman’s hands and fingers were covered in tiny lacerations from “being abused behind bars.”
“I’m in a lot of pain. I’ve been hurting,” he said. “I’ve been beaten. They tied me up. They choked me at the precinct.”
The reporter noted that Gelman appeared drugged up and fidgety.
Once again, Gelman managed to tell us something we’ve heard before, that he was “set up.” He refused to make eye contact with reporters and according to correction officers, would physically attack them if agitated.
“The DEA set me up. They let this happen. They were there the whole time,” Gelman said.
“They are going to kill me,” he said. “I’m trying to make my peace with God.”
