Emmons Avenue

Cafe Rocca Terrace on a Summer evening / BKLYNER

We recommend mixed plates, coffee and make sure to BYOB, as they do not serve alcohol, and leave room for dessert. It manages to pull off romantic and kid friendly in one, terrace is where you want to be, overlooking the marina.

Another excellent Turkish cafe – restaurant with a lovely outdoor area. Their Instagram feed will make you make plans.

Yet another Turkish spot, Liman also has a mean octopus salad, as well as a number of other seafood items in a setting that’s got a nod to the nautical. The menu has an extensive list of fish dishes, from char-grilled whole branzino, to shrimp shish kabob, to grilled salmon over a smoked eggplant puree. Plus, in the warmer weather, you can enjoy all that grilled fish in their outdoor area.

Located on the corner of Emmons and Ocean Avenues, Baku Palace is an Azeri restaurant and has two terraces for outdoor dining. Food is a good mix of Azeri, Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian. They do host a lot of weddings, so check ahead.

Yiasou, 2003 Emmons Avenue / BKLYNER

Take your taste buds across the Aegean sea to this Greek restaurant, named one of the city’s 10 best seafood joints by the Village Voice. “Don’t miss soft but ropey charred octopus tentacles dotted with capers in a red-wine vinaigrette,” they write. “Sold by the pound, your charcoal-grilled selections run to branzino, royal dorado, sea bass, and red snapper, while an excellent whole fried flounder holds down the bottom end of the fish menu, price-wise.” Enjoy the sidewalk seating when there’s a cool breeze.

  • Next Door, 2005 Emmons Avenue, (718) 942-5870

Next Door is a  modern Italian spot with a full bar, by the owners of Yiasou, located literally next door, with similar views. Both the ground floor restaurant and upstairs private dining room have views of the marina, and there is outdoor seating in the summer.

Via Yelp

It’s all about the crabs at this waterfront joint. Located just off the Belt Parkway, Clemente’s serves up tender cakes, chowders and, on Mondays and Tuesdays, crab legs on all-you-can-eat platters. If you are feeling fancy, you can also order a 1.4 pound lobster, served with corn on the cob and a choice of rice or potatoes.

There is also a nice raw bar, with a choice of little necks and blue point oysters, sold by the dozen. Staying true to its name, Clemente’s imports most of its shellfish from Maryland, and occasionally from the Carolinas, notes this New York Times review. Finally, there is the view. Clemente’s offers ample outdoor seating overlooking the Plumb Beach Channel and offering a glimpse of the Manhattan skyline. Eat indoors and then take your beer onto the misty deck for a refreshing, off-the-grid dining experience.

Terrace dining via XO Creperie

The Crepes. Although their other dishes are not bad either. This spot is not literally on the water, but the elevated location allows for nice views.

Same building as XO Creperie, but located on the ground floor, this restaurant offers live music and some outdoor seating.

Coney Island Avenue

  • Sahara 2337 Coney Island Avenue, (718) 376 – 8594
Sahara back yard via Zagat

Yet another Turkish spot, where you can hide in the shade of grape leaves overhanging their backyard paradise. The back yard is not open yet (April 12), but should be within a month.

This excellent Uzbek dining spot is very popular, and you do need to make a reservation most nights of the week. Quite possibly some of the best kebabs in Brooklyn, can accommodate larger groups and has a lovely if small dining ares along the Coney Island Avenue side of the restaurant.

At Nick’s, simplicity is highly valued. They only serve beer and wine as far as alcohol goes, and the menu prices are very reasonable. Tuesdays have specials, and the terrace has views across the water.

Ocean Parkway:

  • Gambrinus Seafood Cafe, 3100 Ocean Pkwy, (718) 265-1009 – Closed for renovation as of April 12. Call to see if open yet.
  • Vis- A – Vis, 3100 Ocean Parkway.
