The East 4th Street Community Garden — located on the cusp of Windsor Terrace and Kensington — will host its twice yearly Flea Market this Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17.

The goods will be displayed in front of the garden’s wrought iron fence on East 4th Street, between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Caton Avenue. Hours are Saturday, April 16, from 9am to 2pm, and Sunday, April 17, from 10am to 2pm. Stop by to browse while you’re out doing your weekend errands!

You’ll find a great selection of household goods to choose from, including books, toys, clothing, and beauty products. And if you’ve skipped breakfast or lunch, there will be an assortment of baked goods to buy. (Mmm, cookies!)

This year the garden is pleased to offer flats of gorgeous seedlings—including flowers, herbs and veggies—for your spring planting. You could make your window box or fire escape so happy!

Kids can take part, too! A free children’s activity is planned for Saturday, April 16, from 10am to 12pm, inside the garden gates. The craft will be decorating and planting mini gardens for your budding urban farmer to take home.

All flea market proceeds go to meet the garden’s expenses and will help fund this year’s roster of expanded event programming, which will feature a diverse range of concerts, educational and culinary workshops, and readings to be held at the garden as the season progresses.

You never know what you’ll find!  And it’ll be so much more interesting than that toothpaste you were on your way to buy anyway.
