Congratulations To The PS 139 Chess Ninjas For Another Astounding Performance At Nationals!
Nineteen incredible students from the PS 139 Chess Ninjas performed yet another amazing feat at the National Elementary Chess Championship in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend — and we can, once again, say our neighbors are some of the most accomplished chess players in the entire country!
Neighbor and Coach Ian West kindly sent us the results from the competition, for which our talented and dedicated Ninjas have spent countless hours preparing.
In the K-5 (Kindergarten through 5th grade) open section, players Robbie Galpern, Tashi Sherpa, Michelle Muniz, Aauyshma Rai, and Ellis Wong placed 18th out of 46 teams.
For the K-5 Under 900 competition, students Ariana Winawer-Stein, Vivian Gore, Aowyn Schneider, Sonam Sherpa, Alexander Pierre Joy, Emmet Duprey, Ryan Reddish, and Brian Thevenot claimed 4th place out of 62 teams.
In the K-3 (Kindergarten through third grade) Under 800 section, players Emma Adams, Polly Morrow, Declan Lutton-Seignoret, Bea Rush, Nevin Swanson, and Maya Emert-Wiggins climbed to 19th place, out of 59 teams.
