PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS/ CROWN HEIGHTS— After two men were shot while sitting in a car in Crown Heights, they crashed their car several blocks away while driving to the hospital.

A 29-year-old driver and a 31-year-old passenger were sitting in a car on Union Street and Utica Avenue where an attacker shot them at around 5:40 p.m. on Monday, July 8. Police sources told the Daily News the shooter fired eight or nine times.

The driver, who was grazed by a bullet in the chest, then attempted to drive the passenger, who was shot in the back of the head, to Kings County Hospital, according to police.

Before the pair could get to the hospital, their Ford crashed into a parked car on the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and Midwood Street— about five blocks away from the hospital. The victim who was shot in the head was taken to the hospital by medics and is in critical condition. The driver of the car is in stable condition, the NYPD said.
