Brooklyn Pride Festival And Parade Makes Neighborhood Proud, Even As We Mourn Orlando

Only hours before the despicable attack took place in Orlando Saturday night, our neighborhood celebrated Brooklyn Pride 2016, a festival which culminated in a celebration of the values, diversity, and spirit of the LGBTQIA Community.

Brooklyn Pride also celebrated its 20th year, joined by a massive group of proud parade-goers, performers, and supportive local businesses.

We planned a more ribald title for the article: “Brooklyn Pride Festival Makes America Gay Again.” But considering the attack, we are feeling somber today.

Our neighborhood — which ought to be celebrated for their huge embrace of this vital event — must be vigilant every day for our LGBTQIA Community.
