It’s the last week of summer, and the city is more or less a ghost town. Our suggestion? Sneak out of work early, enjoy a local happy hour, then feast on some comedy, hear a talk about soda, and find out if your ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War.
It’s not such a bad week to ride the subway in our area — local lines are operating normally for the most part, though the G is in its last full week without the tunnel, and the R isn’t available for part of the ride further into Brooklyn. Details

The Department of Transportation got to work milling Prospect Park West last week [/blog/transportation/no-parking-on-prospect-park-west-during-dot-road-work], and this week they’ll be paving it, so thankfully all the dust and pebbles will be tamped down soon. But drivers, watch out for the ‘no parking’ signs. Here’
