Another Fried Chicken Shop Coming, This One to Newkirk
Construction is underway at 1604B Newkirk Ave, which until September had most recently been occupied by a psychic. We managed to speak with one of the men working on the space, who said they’re turning it into a take-out restaurant – specifically, one that will sell fried chicken.
Sound familiar? Another vacant storefront is also becoming a fried chicken joint soon, that one on Cortelyou.
It could be a coincidence, but the owners of both upcoming fried chicken businesses share the same last name (the common South Asian surname Singh). According to the Department of Buildings, the one on Cortelyou will be known as Grow Grill, while the Newkirk one will be Crown Fried Chicken – a name as popular for halal chicken restaurants as Kennedy.
We’ll keep you posted as each business gets closer to opening.
