Afternoon Snack: Irish Soda Bread

Irish Soda Bread from John's Bakery

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day this Sunday, March 17, we picked up a loaf of Irish soda bread ($6) from John’s Bakery (1322 Cortelyou Road). Fine toasted and spread with butter, it’s actually pretty good for French toast, too, if totally not traditional.

Of course, making soda bread yourself is pretty easy, if made traditionally — or, if you want to be a little more elaborate, check out this recipe from the Times. If you’ve got a favorite recipe, or place to buy a loaf, let us know in the comments!
