Afternoon Bite: Korzo’s Original
All of this cold and rainy weather that we’ve had recently has brought about some serious comfort food cravings, so there was no big surprise when we found ourselves standing in front of Korzo (667 5th Avenue, between 19th and 20th Streets) last Saturday night.
The entire menu is incredibly tempting, but their famous fried burgers are hard to say no to. We went with The Original ($15), a fresh ground beef patty, apple-smoked bacon, Allgauer Emmentaler cheese, house-made mustard, and dill pickle, wrapped in dough and then fried into absolute burger perfection.
We’d definitely recommend adding the fry mix ($3) with regular and sweet potatoes (the sweet potato fries were to die for), and if you really want to go all out, consider tossing in the Hungarian Langos Bon Bon ($8), which is made of fried sweet dough (the same dough used to make their burger), poached berries, fresh caramel, and fresh whipped cream.
Food coma inducing? Yes. Worth it? Most definitely.
