Writers and Readers: Bid in an Auction Benefiting Familes of Newtown, Connecticut
Authors and editors from the publishing industry have organized an auction to benefit Newtown Youth and Family Services through the United Way of Western Connecticut. If you’re a writer looking to have your work read and critiqued by professionals, a reader looking to add to your collection or just a do-gooder looking for a way to help, here’s your opportunity.
Ditmas Park neighbor Ruta Rimas is among those donating time and services to the cause:
As an editor at Simon & Schuster, I have donated a 50 page read + 30 minute phone call to discuss the pages and any other questions about children’s publishing that an up-and-coming writer may have. My specific page is set up here. Of course, if a Ditmas resident were to be the highest bidder, I’d happily arrange a face-to-face critique/discussion!
You can find the auctions here. Books, manuscript critiques, query letter critiques and various other items are up for auction donated by children’s books authors, editors and agents. The auctions began this morning and run through the end of the week.
