On Saturday, November 12, a black, male D train rider approached a 24-year-old woman at the 9th Avenue subway station and punched her in the face.

The allegedly unprovoked attack happened in broad daylight at 4 p.m. The woman refused medical attention, although had she not she would’ve been in luck, being just a few blocks from Maimonides.

The station is located to the south of Green-Wood Cemetery, on 9th Avenue between 37th and 39th streets. The police told us on the phone that they believe this to be an isolated incident and it is not part of any trend they are aware of.

Photos captured of the attacker leaving the station show him wearing a blue sweatshirt and black beanie.
