Windsor Terrace Library Offering Free Computer Tutorials For Neighbors 60 & Older

For those of you who are 60 years old or over and are hoping to get a little better at the computer, we have good news for you!

You can now receive free one-on-one computer instruction at the Windsor Terrace Library (160 E. 5th Street) between now and the end of March, the library’s senior librarian, Deirdre Loughman, let us know.

With support from Councilman Brad Lander’s office and Older Adults Technology Services, the library is offering the free 30-minute tutorials  from 10am to 1pm on Mondays and Wednesdays through the end of next month.

The classes are for individuals of all skill levels, whether you’ve never touched a computer or you’re looking to fine-tune a particular skill. And, as the library pointed, “if computers are an entirely new area of exploration, these sessions would be an ideal opportunity to move past obstacles to learning in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment.”

You don’t need a computer to participate; however, the library is equipped with PC computers only. For any other devices, you’ll need to bring them with you.

Topics that can be addressed during the sessions include:

• How do I turn it on?
• Mouse and Keyboard
• The Internet
• Email: sign up, contacts, compose and send
• Downloading
• Copy and paste
• Attachments
• When and when not to click
• Searching with Google
• Planning travel online
• The operating system
• Researching health
• Entertainment
• Accessibility
