Williamsburg Robber Assaults Woman in Bank, Flees With Cash

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for a man who repeatedly punched and pushed a woman before stealing her money at the Dime Bank on Havemeyer Street yesterday morning.

At around 8:30 am, the suspect approached his 47-year old victim inside the bank at 209 Havemeyer and 5th Street, where he struck her repeatedly, then stole $420 from her, said police. The suspect fled northbound on Havemeyer.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Woodhull Hospital, where she is in stable condition with injuries to the head, nose and ear, said police.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video, seen below, and police have described him as a Hispanic man in his late 30s, roughly 5’8” and 170 lbs., last seen wearing black and grey Northface outerwear and a red ballcap.
