Will The Former 7th Avenue Zito’s Sandwich Shoppe Get A New Renter?

A prime piece of real estate has sat empty for a long time. A surprisingly long time.

The former Zito’s Sandwich Shoppe space at 300 7th Avenue (between 7th and 8th Streets) is convenient located near the F/G stop, Methodist Hospital, and Millennium High School. However, two years have passed since the sandwich place closed this location, which is a long time in the world of real estate.

In January 2014, The Brooklyn Paper reported that owners Marcello Bucca and Enzo Conigliaro chose to open their Bay Ridge location instead of keeping the 7th Avenue shop because “the rent skyrocketed by $10,000.”

We didn’t see a listing for the space pop up online until this summer, and it’s still apparently available. They’re currently asking $8,000 a month for the 1,000-square-foot space, which they note includes “includes a full service commercial kitchen, a walk-in refrigerator, outdoor seating and basement with storage.”

Zito’s other neighborhood spot at 195 5th Avenue (between Sackett and Union Streets) closed its doors in June, so you’ll have to make it down to their Bay Ridge location for your fix. That vacant space filled up mighty quick, though — the Indian restaurant Namaste opened just a month after Zito’s closed there.

Sure would be nice to see another empty 7th Avenue spot fill up, though. We’ll keep you posted if anyone nabs it.
